Lazarus could not find (and store) cfg info in my USERPROFILE dir where cyrrilic letters exist.
It's strings look like "C:\Documents and Settings\???????????\Application Data\lazarus32" .....

That's because of windows poor unicode support.
Generally, whether you have "ANSI strings" option enabled or not - all messages within ide and all lcl dialogs would use utf8.
So if you concerned about showmessage or IDE messages window - there still no fix for that.
But if you try to access that folder then the best you can do is to use utf8tosys() function. It will not fix dialogs, but you would access your folder.
The best solution is to disable ANSI strings and then use utf8tosys() whenever you are using your hdd.

How to do it to successfully install?

Which codepage would use utf8tosys() for output ?
Would it be GetACP() or GetOEMCP() ?

Не стал я лезть в исходники управляющего центра Code Typhon, просто создал еще одного пользователя на компутере (на латинице) и спокойно проинсталлировался. Написал уже одну служебную программку (формирование lrs-файла), попутно разобравшись с уровнями использования UTF8 и Ansi. А вот вчера закончил первую прикладную программу с использованием Zeos+SQLite - и споткнулся. В каталоге с кириллицей программа не запускается - Zeos не видит Dll. Сутки колупал исходники Zeos, но до решения проблемы так и не докопался. Попутно грохнул Lazarus, пришлось заново инсталлироваться. Видимо, открытий чудных будет еще много.

скорее всего хранит пути в utf8 и так их в винду и отправляет, забывает обратно перекодировать

запусти Process Monitor и смотри что реально пытается программа сделать

FreePascal.ru seems targeting vanilla Lazarus and does not have neither forum section nor version monitoring for CT

Yet this section is an ENGLISH writing section of the forum.

If there are requests for a seperate, Russian-only section in this forum, i am more than happy to support them. But at least these requests
should come in a formal way and not forcing it's way through.

I don't want to be misunderstood. I am not whining for a word or two or even a greeting message in your native language (after all i have
done it myself to other Greek members of this forum) but i am against braking the forum rules. If you guys have something to share please
do it in English (at least in this section of the forum) for the rest of us to be able to follow you.

We do have a lot to learn from each other.

Surely making forum a mess of all the languages around the globe would be a bad thing.

Personally i'd even not enjoy having Russian section - exactly for dividing community.
But those two are barely speaking English.

For example i can hardly understand what 4aiman told above, whether he meant that MS Windows had bad Unicode support (which is false) or that FPC/Laz/CT have bad unicode support on Windows target (which is probably true as this software stack was at the same time mostly developed by westerners and was mainly developed on UNIX-like OSes - together that makes proper support of national languages in Windows very unlikely).

So, well, those two would definitely benefit from Russian-only section. The question is whether there are more potential visitors of that. But that requires stats that we cannot have.

Some forum engines make language a property of each thread, not section. And each user just sets himself a filter of which languages he wants to see. That is arguable the most versatile approach, but it is very rarely used in the wild

Haven't tried last release yet, but CT 1.6 to 3.20 always could find my profile (if the CT itself was compiled)
