Hello,

after doing a lot frustrating research in the internet, I ask for help here.

CT only builds the small IDE also if I select the big version, i cannot see the reason as the log disappears quickly.
The small IDE starts and works. If I add e.g. the docking components, I can recompile the IDE but it fails here:

...
"Compiling package EasyDockMgr 1.0" completed
/usr/lib/codetyphon/lazarus/examples/dockmanager/design/registereasydockmgr.pas(58,56) Hint: Parameter "ASite" not used
/usr/lib/codetyphon/lazarus/examples/dockmanager/design/registereasydockmgr.pas(292,3) Note: Local variable "DockSibling" not used
/usr/lib/codetyphon/lazarus/examples/dockmanager/design/registereasydockmgr.pas(293,3) Note: Local variable "NewDockSite" not used
"Compiling package EasyDockMgrDsgn 0.0" completed
/usr/lib/codetyphon/lazarus/ide/lazarus.pp(224,1) Error: Can't call the resource compiler "/usr/lib/codetyphon/fpc/bin/i386-linux/fpcres", switching to external mode
/usr/lib/codetyphon/lazarus/ide/lazarus.pp(224,1) Fatal: There were 1 errors compiling module, stopping

fcpres defintively exists in that path and i can call it from the command line as user and root.

Even stranger: I had the same issue on my Windows 7 box and then compiled CT in a XP vmware (fresh install) and could then move it to my 7er Box, where it works well. Maybe its because of the lots of Stuff installed on the win 7 machine.

Any help would be very appreciated!

Hi mschumann,

here are some general things to point out:
- If you have previous installations of Lazarus or FreePascal as separate distributions Uninstall them all before installing CT.
- Make sure you have root/administrator rights (just for reminder)
- In case of Linux use the option of the CT installer to prepare your system with the appropriate libraries
- In windows make sure you are using the C: drive for CT installation (all though i am not sure if you can choose something else)

Also it would be helpful to provide some output from the CT Center.

Hello,

thanks for your quick reply:

- If you have previous installations of Lazarus or FreePascal as separate distributions Uninstall them all before installing CT.
I just created a fresh debian 64 VM with only VMWare Tools for shared folders. Same problem. All compiles except for the big IDE. Same error (see attachment)

- Make sure you have root/administrator rights (just for reminder)
I put the user into the sudoers file (otherwise compilation doesnt work at all)

- In case of Linux use the option of the CT installer to prepare your system with the appropriate libraries
The preparation was done during installation. Or is there an other additional step I missed

- In windows make sure you are using the C: drive for CT installation (all though i am not sure if you can choose something else)
I did so. As I reported, teh same approach that failed on my windows 7 box ran smoothly on a fresh XP VM installation. After moving the c:\codetyphon and the user folders to the windows 7 box, it also works well although it is 64 bit windows.

I attached a screenshot of the failed big ide compilation in debian squeeze 64 with 1.5G Ram (I have 16G on my 7 host), so memory shouldn't be the reason.

By the way: It is the stable 2.60 CT Version I downloaded here a few days ago.

One addition: I switched to german language and will try the same with USA settings now. Perhaps this affects the resource compiler...

My suggestion is to
give to VM 2 CPU and 2GBytes RAM or more...

thanks, this indeed changed something. I configured 3GB for the 32 Bit Squeeze and now run into an other error which should be easy to solve. Cannot find -lgdk-pixbuf-2.0. I am sure there is a package missing. I can only find packages for SID and Wheezy not for Squeeze. As I am no Linux pro, does anybody have a clue?

Thanks!

A fresh Debian Squeeze Installation with vmWare Tools, two procesors, 3GB ram, setting the user in /etc/sudoers and first (!) installing the libraries before installing did the trick. Now I have the big IDE in Debian Squeeze, could reduce the memory to 2GB.

Thanks for your support. I am really happy now!

I really would like to see a OSX Version and suggest integrating IBX and ZipFile.
